CAUTION: Do not consume Psyllium Husk Powder dry. It is vital to drink 300ml (a large glass) of fluid with each 5g serving of Psyllium Husk Powder.

Psyllium Husk Powder is high in fibre. The majority of this is soluble fibre which absorbs water in the intestines to form a gel, slowing digestion. Both soluble and insoluble fibre are important and the NHS recommend that we consume 30g of fibre per day. Up to 10g of Psyllium husk can be consumed daily but Linwoods recommend to start at 5g serving and gradually increase the amount over 3 weeks.

SUPPORT REGULAR DIGESTION:
The primary benefit of psyllium husk is its ability to help support normal, regular digestion.

CHOLESTROL SUPPORT:
With around 70% soluble fibre, psyllium can help reduce LDL “bad” cholesterol by binding to bile acids in the digestive system and supporting their removal from the body

BLOOD SUGAR SUPPORT:
By slowing the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, it helps create a more gradual release of glucose into the bloodstream

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT:
When mixed with liquid, psyllium expands to form a soft gel that promotes a natural feeling of fullness. Linwoods recommend at least 300ml of fluid with each 5g serving

What is psyllium husk?:
Psyllium husk is a natural, soluble fibre sourced from the outer shell of the Plantago ovata seed. Naturally high in soluble fibre, psyllium husk absorbs water and forms a gel-like substance in the gut. This unique gelling property helps support regular digestion and everyday gut comfort in a simple, natural way.
At its heart, psyllium is a plant-based fibre that helps support normal digestive function. It can be used to increase your daily fibre intake, add softness and structure to gluten-free recipes, and is an easy addition to your everyday routine.

Where does Psyllium Husk come from?:
Psyllium husk is derived from the outer shell of the Plantago ovata seed, a small plant traditionally cultivated in warm, dry climates, particularly in parts of India. The outer husk is naturally rich in soluble fibre and is carefully harvested and milled to create psyllium husk powder.

How does psyllium fibre work?:
Psyllium husk Powder is a natural source of soluble fibre that absorbs water in the digestive system, forming a soft gel-like texture in the gut. This natural gel helps support regular digestion by adding bulk and softening the stool, making stools easier to pass and helping to maintain everyday digestive comfort.

Is psyllium husk a soluble or insoluble fibre?:
Psyllium husk is predominantly a soluble fibre, while also containing some insoluble fibre. Typically, psyllium husk contains around 70% soluble fibre and 30% insoluble fibre. Its high soluble fibre content allows it to absorb water in the gut, giving psyllium husk its unique gel-forming properties that help support bowel regularity.

What are the benefits of Psyllium Husk?:
Psyllium Husk Powder is a natural source of soluble fibre that is widely used to support regular digestion and everyday gut comfort. Its unique gel-forming properties help soften stools and support bowel regularity, while its high soluble fibre content has also been associated with cholesterol support, blood sugar management and feelings of fullness.

How To Use Linwoods Psyllium Husk Power:
Linwoods Psyllium Husk naturally absorbs liquid and thickens, so it's important to add enough liquid to achieve your preferred consistency and support comfortable digestion.
Linwoods Psyllium Husk works best when mixed into moist foods or liquids:
· Add to overnight oats (add extra liquid as it thickens)

  • · Blend into smoothies or fruit juices
  • · Stir into sauces or dressings
  • · Use in baking

Linwoods Psyllium Husk naturally absorbs liquid, creating a thicker, more satisfying texture. Please ensure you add the necessary amount of water or liquid as this helps ensure a comfortable digestion experience.

Important Guidance when using Linwoods Psyllium Husk:

  • · Do not consume dry or sprinkle onto dry foods
  • · Always mix into food or liquid before eating
  • · Drink approximately 300ml of fluid (a large glass) with each 5g serving

Hydration & Digestion:
When consuming fibre rich products like psyllium husk, it's important to drink plenty of water throughout the day (approximately 2–3 litres) to support digestion.

Introducing Linwoods Psyllium Husk to your diet:
If you are new to fibre rich foods, it's best to start with a smaller amount than recommended on pack and gradually increase your intake over time. This helps your digestive system adjust to the higher fibre intake, as consuming too much too quickly may cause discomfort.
Suggested approach:
Begin with a reduced portion for 1–2 weeks, then gradually increase to the full 5g serving as your body adjusts. If you experience any discomfort, reduce your intake and build up more slowly.

Storage instructions:
Store in a cool dry place.
