Botanical Description:
The castor bean or castor oil plant, is a perennial with very deeply lobed, glossy, green, red or bronze leaves held on red stems. Yellow flowers are produced in summer, followed by spherical, spiky seed capsules. Castor is indigenous to the southeastern Mediterranean Basin, East Africa and India, but is widespread throughout tropical regions.

Directions for Use:
Body / Skincare:
Outstanding for lubricating & moisturising the skin. Helps to smooth the skin’s appearance by restoring suppleness. Perfect for adding extra hydration, for example after sunbathing. Best to dilute castor oil with an equal part of a lightweight carrier oil such coconut, sweet almond or grapeseed when applying liberally to the skin. This oil can be applied direct to the skin, or blended with essential oils for an aromatic body or massage oil.
Haircare:
Fantastic as a hair & scalp conditioner adding glossiness & encourages hair growth. Its anti-fungal & antibacterial properties also help prevent & remedy dandruff. To promote hair health, growth & shine, simply massage a little oil directly into your scalp as a conditioning treatment & leave for 30 minutes or even overnight, before washing out thoroughly. To prevent & treat split ends & to combat dryness or brittleness, rub a little of the oil to the ends of your hair for several minutes. Wash out thoroughly with shampoo after 30 minutes. Also great for moisturising the cuticles & for strengthening & encouraging nail growth - apply a little directly daily.
DIY / Tips:
Dubbed ‘nature’s mascara’ this is brilliant for thickening the eyebrows & eyelashes applied daily! Great as an instant lip gloss too.
As a household conditioner, it will revive leather objects such as bags or shoes which are tired or cracked - plus it adds shine to wooden furniture. Apply as a household rust remover - leave overnight then scrub off with a bristle brush.
Skin Types:
Ideal for dry & mature skin as it improves texture & helps rid the complexion of fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks & scars. For very dry or cracked skin, rub a little oil onto rough patches such as heels & elbows. Especially suited for dry or thin hair being an exceptional moisturising & conditioning agent.
