Rose is one of the most widely used floral waters due to its many skin benefits. Mild and gentle, this water makes an excellent toner and can also calm and sooth sensitive skin conditions. Rose water can also be used as a refreshing spray for the face and body as well as linen refreshers or it can be added to a warm bath.

Floral waters (also known as hydrolats or hydrosols) are pure and natural products that are produced as a by-product of the essential oil steam distillation process. When a plant is steam distilled to make essential oils, at the end of the process a liquid is left over and this is what is referred to as a hydrolat.

Many people choose to use them as a skin toner, to freshen and cleanse the skin and help add water back into dehydrated skin. Most of the manufactured skin toners contain alcohol or other ingredients, so the benefit of rose water hydrolat is that it’s completely pure and natural. It’s ideal for use by anyone that doesn’t want to add harsh chemicals to their skin, for those who are sensitive to other ingredients, for those who aren’t able to deal with strong smelling skin products or simply by anyone wanting to tone and cleanse their skin in the most natural way.

In comparison to the majority of essential oils, hydrolats can be applied directly to the skin, as they are in a diluted form. Although you may choose to use either essential oils or hydrolats, they do work very used in conjunction with one another.
